PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) was honored to welcome the Singapore Government Delegation to visit PTSC's facilities and its Project on March 4, 2024, in Vung Tau City, after receiving a Conditional Approval (Conditional Approval) from the Singapore Government in October 2023. Representatives from the Singapore Embassy in Hanoi, the Singapore Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), the Energy Market Authority (EMA), and PTSC's partner Sembcorp Utilities (SCU) all joined the delegation.
During the working visit, the Singapore Government authorities witnessed with their own eyes the most modern synchronous infrastructure, facilities, and equipment in the Asia-Pacific region, invested by PTSC to serve offshore renewable energy projects around the world, including this transnational project. This has increased Singapore Government authorities' confidence in the Vietnam offshore wind project jointly developed by SCU and PTSC, as part of the objective to import 4GW of renewable electricity to Singapore by 2035.
PTSC and its partner SCU also presented the project's implementation strategy, as well as proposed mechanisms and policies, during the meeting. With the goal of commercial power generation by 2033, PTSC and its partners have laid out a specific roadmap that includes a survey, an investment plan, and the development of offshore wind farms in Vietnam to produce and export approximately 1.2GW of clean electricity from Vietnam to Singapore via high-voltage submarine cable.
Through the meeting, the authorities of the Singapore Government affirmed that they will continue to support PTSC and its partners during the implementation of the Project, which will not only help Singapore soon achieve its goal of bringing net emissions to zero by 2050, but will also further tighten the bilateral cooperation relationship between Singapore and Vietnam, realizing the "Digital Economy - Green Economy Partnership" between the two countries. On the side of PTSC and SCU, after being awarded the Survey Permit and Conditional Approval to import clean electricity from Vietnam to Singapore by the authorities of the two countries at the end of 2023, and particularly after the working session, will continue to promote the implementation of additional work in order to successfully implement the Project.
