PTSC completed the final integration for the first foundation of offshore windfarm Greater Changhua 2B&04

On the afternoon of April 10th, 2024, at the construction site Vung Tau Downstream Port, Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) completed the installation of the largest component to finalize the first foundation among the 33 wind turbine foundations PTSC was commissioned to manufacture and supply for Ørsted's Greater Changhua 2b&4 offshore wind farm. This also marks the first offshore wind turbine foundation manufactured in Vietnam.

The offshore wind foundation stands nearly 100 meters tall and weighs approximately 2,350 tons, constructed and manufactured by PTSC

This is one of the largest and tallest crane operations ever conducted in Vietnam and the region, with a lifting capacity of nearly 800 tons and lifting at a height of nearly 100 meters. To accomplish this, PTSC mobilized one of the world's largest cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 2,350 tons, utilizing ring crane technology—the largest and most advanced crane operating for the first time in Vietnam.

This mega lift represents the final stage to complete the fabrication of offshore wind foundations. It serves as evidence of the innovative construction methods and breakthrough technological solutions implemented by PTSC's highly skilled and experienced team. Furthermore, it provides a foundation for PTSC to further enhance mass production on a large scale, with the goal of completing all 33 foundations by early 2025 for delivery to the customer Orsted, for transportation and installation in Taiwan (China).

One notable aspect of the production chain is the state-of-the-art, large-scale corrosion-resistant paint workshop, the most advanced in the Asia-Pacific region, which PTSC has newly invested in and smoothly operated. This facility enables the safe and precise production of components measuring approximately 40 meters in height, meeting extremely stringent European standards, surpassing even those in PTSC's traditional oil and gas field.

The finished products of the paint workshop complex, which is the largest and most advanced in the Asia-Pacific region and was invested in and inaugurated by PTSC in 2023

The completion of this first foundation validates the statement made by Mr. Le Manh Cuong, CEO of PTSC, at the contract signing ceremony with the customer on May 19, 2023: "PTSC commits to leveraging all of its resources to efficiently and safely fulfill this contract and to build a supply chain to contribute to the development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province into a supply center for offshore renewable energy not only for Vietnam but also for the entire Asia-Pacific region."
