On 13 September 2026, PTSC Mechanical & Construction Company Limited (PTSC M&C) was officially awarded the EPIC-1 Package of the Maydan Mahzam Redevelopment Project (MM EPIC-1 Project) by QatarEnergy. The MM EPIC-1 Project is scheduled for implementation from Q4.2026 through the end of 2031.
With an expected contract value of more than USD 3 billion, this is the largest project in PTSC M&C’s history in both scale and volume of works. It also affirms that Vietnam’s oil and gas technical services sector has reached a new level and capable to handle multi-billion-dollar projects in the international market.
Enhancing production at the Maydan Mahzam field in Qatar
QatarEnergy is Qatar’s national energy company and plays a leading role in the management and development of the country’s energy resources. As part of its strategy to modernise infrastructure and improve production efficiency, QatarEnergy is implementing the redevelopment of Maydan Mahzam — one of Qatar’s longest-established offshore oil fields, first brought on stream in 1965.
After more than six decades of operation, the field is experiencing declining output, and QatarEnergy aims to maintain production at approximately 25,000 barrels per day. This requires new production platforms, upgrades, pipeline expansions, and the addition of facilities across the field. MM EPIC-1 Project is central to the overall capacity-enhancement program.
Winning the MM EPIC-1 Project — having prevailed over major international contractors — demonstrates the international capability of Vietnamese contractors in general and of PTSC/PTSC M&C in particular. It also provides an important driving force to business operations, opens new growth opportunities, and strengthens the position and reputation of PTSC/PTSC M&C as a main EPCIC contractor for mega energy projects, thereby contributing to the successful realization of PTSC’s sustainable development strategy.
A historic milestone for PTSC M&C
Under the awarded scope of MM EPIC-1 Project, PTSC M&C will act as the main EPCIC contractor, with full responsibility for engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation, hook-up and commissioning of 08 new structures with more than 100,000 metric tonnes to be fabricated, as well as the modification and integration of existing facilities.

Advancing Vietnam–Qatar energy cooperation
From the success of a series of projects delivered in Qatar since 2018, MM EPIC-1 Project marks a breakthrough three decades after Vietnam and Qatar established diplomatic relations on 8 February 1993. It is also consistent with the spirit of the Joint Communiqué of November 2024, in which both nations identified energy and oil and gas as priority areas of cooperation.
Beyond its commercial significance and the demonstration of international competitiveness, the award of a Vietnamese enterprise in the role of main-contractor for a major energy project in Qatar will help to contribute to the concretisation and further development of energy cooperation between the two countries; and also to promote investment cooperation between Vietnamese and Qatari companies in the period ahead.
The value created by PTSC and Petrovietnam’s internationalization strategy
