Announcement of FPSO Ruby II’s First Oil

On 15 July 2010, in PetroHotel Vung Tau, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation has celebrated First Oil ceremony of FPSO Ruby II.

FPSO Ruby II is now under charter for Petronas Carigali Vietnam Ltd serving in  offshore Pearl Field. 

Attending the ceremony there was Mr. Dinh La Thang – Chairman of Vietnam Oil & Gas Group; representatives of Petronas Client; representatives of MISC partner and many other distinguished guests, press media agency, etc.

On the First Oil Annoucement ceremony, after the presentation of PTSC about the project history, Petronas has awarded PTSC & MISC Delivery Certificate, officially confirmed the vessel charter for the development of Pearl Field.

Previously, At 01h42 morning 09 June 2010, FPSO Ruby II has officially received the first oil and associated gas flow.

FPSO Ruby II is among 05 important FPSO/FSOs that PTSC focuses in investment with the aim for the production service. This FPSO is owned and operated by Vietnam Offshore Floating Terminals (VOFT), a joint venture company between PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) and partner MISC Malaysia of which PTSC holds 60% capital. The FPSO Ruby II is contracted through international competitive tender. The entire Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) scope of work; and entire Offshore Installation (OIC) and Operation & Maintenance scope of work through the terms of the Contract were awarded to PTSC & MISC by VOFT respectively, for the duration of 8 years (with 02 years expansion optional) by the Client PCVL. This FPSO will bring revenue approximately 165,000 USD/day for the joint venture VOFT.

FPSO Ruby II is based on total repair, life extension and conversion of the Aframax tanker MT Cherry II. The FPSO features a bow-mounted turret with nine (9) mooring lines and slots for a total of five (5) production risers and three (3) gaslift risers. The topsides are designed for an input of 39,000 barrels of per day and output of 20,000 barrels per hour, and in addition provides gas treatment and compression facilities to handle 11.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. FPSO Ruby II has the overall length of 242.38m, width (largest) of 41.2 m, depth of 21m; and tonnage of 100,024T.
